A century ago the mainstay of American life was the farm. Although life has become more urban, we look back with a romanticized eye to the life of a simpler time. Boys and girls ran barefoot through the grass, summer days were spent swimming or fishing in a nearby creek. Even today some families cling to a life that is close to the land and to nature.
