God Speed by E. B. Leighton
Godspeed by Edward Blair Leighton typifies the
pre-Raphaelite painters who were inspired by Romantic writers and poets. They returned to
the direct study of nature and a pure color palette which gives their pictures a dramatic
quality. The sentimental portrayal of figures in flowing costumes placed in lush settings
give their work a unique flavor. This print pictures a young woman biding goodbye to her
champion, a young knight clad in armor astride his noble charger. The two smaller sizes
have a plain white border.

Circe Offering The Cup To Ulysses, 1891
This new print is from the Pre-Raphaelite period of the late
19th century. This art movement harkened back to the art and themes of the ancient and
medieval eras and was part of the Art Nouveau movement. This is from a painting by John
William Waterhouse. It pictures the sorceress Circe offering the drugged cup to Ulysses.
The swine at her feet are her past victims. In her left hand is the sorcerer's wand and
behind her we glimpse the reflection of the Greek adventurer in her mirror. The print
