Guy Buffet's world is one that brings a smile to your face. His well known series of entertaining waiters captured in funny situations recalls the feeling of classic slapstick humor. Growing up in the family restaurant business in Paris gave him a wealth of material from which to work. After losing his father at a very young age, his mother encouraged him to be an artist by purchasing for him his first set of paints and brushes. When he was 14, his mother enrolled him in the Ecole de Beaux Arts de Toulon. This was to begin his career as an artist, inspiring him to continue on to L'Academie de Peinture de la Ville de Paris. Today he divides his time between his two homes in Maui and Paris. In 1984 he became an American citizen. He has had many solo exhibitions around the world and has created artwork for many advertising campaigns such as Absolut Vodka, the Tour de France and Champagne Perrier-Jouet. Rod Stewart, Wolfgang Puck and Kirk Douglas are just a few of the celebrities who collect Guy Buffet's work.
