Born in Poland, Marysia Burr graduated from the Polish Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she majored in graphic arts with special emphasis on painting and drawing. Burr became a well-known artist in Warsaw and was the recipient of many prizes for her realistic portrayals of the human form in oils, watercolors, and pencil. After receiving a master's degree in art from the Academy in 1981, Burr immigrated to the United States. Burr settled in southern California, and her artistic focus changed from the portrayal of the human figure to landscapes and nature forms, using elements from both abstract and realistic art traditions.
Burr's work has been exhibited throughout the United States and Europe, and she has had one-person shows in Los Angeles and Newport Beach, California, Germany, and Poland.
