Charles Burton Barber Art Prints and Posters

English painter Charles Burton Barber was born in 1845 and died in 1894. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1882. He specialized in paintings of children and pets. By the time of his early death he was described as 'one of Britain's most promising animal painters.' Barber's work varied from the almost-photographic to the sketchy, and tended to the sentimental. One of his patrons was Queen Victoria, who commissioned him to make pictorial records of many favored pets. Barber also made some children's illustrations. Many dog portraits by Barber are in the Royal Collection.
