Jim Morris is a native of Tennessee who has lived in Alabama for a number of years. He has taken most of his photographs in the southern United States, where he has traveled many miles seeking photographic possibilities. Morris has a particular interest in photographing the beauty and diversity of the South, including the rapidly disappearing rural scenes of old farmhouses, barns, country stores, and "Main Street" businesses. He works almost exclusively with black-and-white photography, though he sometimes hand-colors his prints.
Morris' work has been shown in one-man shows, art festivals, and juried art shows in the South as well as in several cities throughout the United States. His photographs have received numerous awards.
